Elvis… and refrigerators! Caleb was hilarious. Professor Elena didn’t seem to agree, but the way she controlled the water was really cool! I’m excited that I’ll learn to use my power like that. Applied Enchantment is going to be a difficult class, though… Professor Elena is really nice, but it’s demanding and the concepts are hard to learn. Milaek was funny earlier. I wonder why she was acting so oddly. And Azami has a really scary voice. I’m glad I wasn’t the one being yelled at. It is nice to finally get to know all of my fellow classmates~ Gareth is fun to annoy! He doesn’t really show his expressions, but it comes out in his voice. I wonder why he didn’t have to go through that whole thing with Azami and Milaek. He’s weird. But there are a lot of weird first-years. Like Set, who never takes off his sunglasses, and Xerin, who has a giant winged lizard. They called it a dragon, but I know dragons don’t really look like that. My tiger is ghosting around my head, but since he’s annoying I’m ignoring him. Ignore, ignore.
‘Just give up already’. Damn. It’s not working. Does everyone have to deal with impudent, irritating Animal Spirits? Look, my vocabulary is expanding~!
‘It’s not working. I know you can hear me.’ I ground my teeth in frustration.
‘Yes,’ I sent back, ‘but I’m trying to pay attention to the Professor right now, so stow it.’ He lazily did a back flip.
‘Whatever you say. At least I’m not sarcastic, like Capricorn. You should count yourself lucky.’ I looked curiously at Larimar. She did look a bit upset.
‘… Maybe.’ Apparently pleased that I appreciated his lack of sarcasm, he curled up at my feet, and went to sleep. If Animal Spirits could sleep. Could they? I would have to ask Milaek or Azami next time I saw them. I wondered why people were scared of them. They were funny! I couldn’t understand half of what they were talking about, but Milaek was like a cat and Azami was like a snake. Or maybe they were both like snakes. I’d have to think about it some more. Azami was more formal though, which was no fun. I pouted, before being distracted by Professor Elena’s necklace for the 93475857464th time. It was so shiny… and such a pretty blue… She raised an eyebrow at me, and I grinned. No, I wasn’t paying attention. Oh well. Professor Elena was kinda like those angels we always saw in Western paintings when we had to study European history. Not that I really paid attention in class~ it was so boring. My classmates were all so interesting. Illia looked like fun~ plus, it would be amusing to watch Tyron blush around her. Zenery liked playing mind games, which were hilarious. Tyron looked like someone I could train with! Xerin and her attempts to avoid Briar would be fun to watch, and Caleb was amusing~ Gareth was so much fun to annoy. Not that he was easily annoyed. But I could try! I wondered if Set was easily annoyed. Lisse was kinda creepy. Spiders were evil. Nico and Briar were too obsessed with horses to be much fun. But since Briar had short apprenticeships to a smith, a horse breeder and a falconer before, I could leech knowledge! Ireland sounded like such a quaint place~ it’s so cool they still have apprenticeships and things like falconry and smithing.
Professor Elena was glaring at me again… maybe I should pay attention.
‘No, really.’ I flushed.
‘Shut up.’
