Tyron's POV

I could feel the heat rising in my face as Illia grabbed my hand and towed me out the door. I shook it off though, wondering why on earth I was blushing, and instead thought about where the gardens might be. It was impossible to find anything in this blasted school- the doors were only marked with keys and other obscure symbols.
“so,” Illia said, breaking the silence, “what did you think of that fight? Pretty intense, huh?” I nodded.
“I wonder how Larimar knew to dodge that.” Illia shrugged.
“She must have trained before or something.” She commented disinterestedly. “I want to know what’s up with Gareth.”
“I think we’re all asking ourselves that,” I said dryly. Illia caught the eye of a passing upperclassman.
“Hey, can you give us directions to the garden?” He rolled his eyes and smirked.
“Sorry, it’s against the rules for us to help you.” He waved cheerfully and continued.
“Motherfucking son of a bitch,” Illia muttered blackly. I patted her gingerly on the arm.
“Is that it over there?” I asked, pointing at a door with a vine twisted around the key emblem. We cautiously opened the door and peeked around it, only to groan in disappointment.
“It’s winter!” I smacked my forehead. “Stands to reason the plants would all be dead in this ridiculously cold place.” Illia looked glum.
“Will it ever be summer here?”
“… I seriously doubt it.” We wandered back along the hall, looking for familiar landmarks… only to realize we were completely, totally, and utterly lost.
“Umm… where are we?” Illia’s eyes grew wider.
“Oh, come on. We can’t get lost. This place is like a labyrinth!” I could certainly imagine wandering around these halls for the rest of eternity. If only those damned symbols made any sense at all.
“And tonight was the night we were supposed to get our room back,” I said, miserable. Illia tightened her grip on my hand consolingly.
“We’ll just have to look at these doors really carefully.” I nodded in agreement, and we began to inspect each symbol with renewed interest. After about an hour of still being completely lost, we both gave up.
“We’re going to starve and no one will ever miss us, will they?”
“… Probably not.” I couldn’t think of anything reassuring to say. The dinner bell had already rung, and we were no closer to figuring out where we were. “It looked enormous from the outside, but you really have no fucking idea until you actually start wandering around in here.” Illia nodded gloomily in agreement.
“Even if Azami and Milaek might have helped us (no way in hell), they’re gone…” We dispiritedly collapsed in front of a small door. I blushed, realizing how close Illia was sitting.
“I wonder where this leads,” I said quickly, standing and trying the knob on the little door. To my surprise, it was unlocked. Illia stood on tiptoe behind me.
“Maybe we shouldn’t open that…” It was too late. Utterly disconcerted by the fact Illia was pressed against me, I opened the door. I really shouldn’t have done that.
