I threw my backpack onto the bed. I needed to go shopping, and soon. I only had like, two pairs of pants, and two pairs of shorts. What was I supposed to do with that in the winter?
I stretched out, and my back cracked pleasingly. I looked at the clock. Check-in time had started over half an hour ago, and I was the first one here. I was waiting for the other dudes to show up. As if on cue, the door swung open, and a tall, muscular guy walked in. His duffle bag was slung over one shoulder, and as he threw it down on his bed, the bed shook. Note to self, don’t get on his bad side.
“Hi.” He said. His voice wasn’t as low as I had expected. And I was softer.
“Hi.” My voice was a bit gravely. The only people I had talked to in the past week were the bus drivers. And that was only two words.
I cleared my throat.
“So how long did it take you to find the dorm? Crazy key themed school. They really take their name seriously, huh?”
He laughed lightly, and my smile grew tenfold. This is what I had been missing.
Finally I let myself slide. And I was never going to look back.
