Briar's POV

So I wanted to know if Set had eyes. In retrospect, that is obviously really, really stupid. However, I was drunk, so I take no responsibility. After snatching the glasses off of Set’s face, I remember being disappointed that he did, indeed, have eyes (the said eyes were looking at me in utter shock from a dead-white face). However, I took no notice. I vaguely remember mumbling, a bit blearily, that “Yr eyes’r no big deal...” before passing out unceremoniously. However, from Zenery’s scolding later you would have thought that I had brutally skinned him with barbed wire. She was ranting about his ‘psychological damage’ and the fact that she had ‘almost gotten him to open up’ or something of the sort. Whatever. From what I gathered from Nico’s complaints, Set is an utter freak and we’re best off without him.
Anyways, though the party only lasted a few hours, it’s effects are going to be felt for weeks, if not months. Larimar studiously avoids Amber and Caleb, who are stuck together like glue. Nico teases Lisse constantly (I can’t imagine how he can stand being near such a concentrated source of evil). Set appears to be a tortoise, as he has retreated into his invisible shell and become, for all intents and purposes, deaf and mute (though I notice his eyes turning to Zenery sometimes when she isn’t looking). Zenery has backed off of Set, though she still watches him constantly. Illia and Tyron seem to have grown a bit closer together. And Xerin... Christ, there is something wrong with that girl. One moment she is perfectly civil and the next she gives out to me something fierce. Or she ignores me entirely.
If I want to be quite honest with myself, she’s extremely pretty, and I like girls with some spice. However, I haven’t got a snowball’s chance in hell, so why bother? I’d be better off attending to Professor Vantas’s lecture (if you can call it that, which is highly doubtful) rather than thinking about Xerin.
‘If you can, that is,’ Gwalchmai murmered slyly from somewhere to my right.
I ignored her.
